About
A butter and sugar packed kitchen sweetening the Internet and Hudson Valley with custom gourmet confections.
Online, The Purple Spoon is my personal blog where I share my love of baking through recipes that are a piece of cake for any kitchen.
The Baker
“I like to eat, I’m good at it!”
(Meryl Streep as Julia Child)
OK, I do more than eat and bake…seriously…why are you laughing. I started the blog as a way to document and share my love of sweets and showcase my adventures in sugar, butter and fun that comes from my kitchen.
Outside of blogging and baking I’ve also had the privilege of eating and associating with the best during my 7 years as a wedding and event planner. I think the combination of my love of sweets, perfectionist tendencies with a hint of ocd and the need for a hobby has had me on the constant search for the best in butter, chocolate and cream.
I am, a wife to the most amazing husband a woman could ask for, a mother to three beautiful albeit crazy/silly/active children who also love to stand on the stool and help me bake and daughter and sister of the best family in the world.
I love to drive fast cars; my first one was a ’95 mustang that my husband has since claimed but my favorite was my audi tt. Dumb car couldn’t fit the kids though
I am not afraid to eat. It may not look like it but I can pack down a few burgers and my favorite dinner is steak cooked to a nice medium-rare.
I am the oldest of six kids-I love our big family and wouldn’t trade it for the world even though I have no intentions of following in my mother’s footsteps.
If I’m not baking, I’m singing, shopping, decorating, planning and the very occasionally playing tennis (heavy on the very occasionally).
I’m slowly learning the fine art of photographing food-I love doing it-just not that good yet, but be patient with me, I’ll get there!
The Taste-testers
If you’ve been following, or you’re just starting out, you’ll notice some kids mentioned here and there. I figure I should probably introduce them so I can just use their names and stop describing which order of child it is I’m talking about.
Brooke Olivia, 8
She’s my mini-me. I would take note of this face because she’ll be ruling the world by the time she’s 10. She’s a fierce leader, strong-willed daughter, independent thinker, and a calculating planner.
She is sweet as pie and while she loves eating sweets she’d rather be the managing partner then the baker.
Chloe Michelle, 5
My little miss Chloe. Our avid artist, she is quiet and unassuming but takes everything in to surprise you with it later. A complete girly girl, you’ll find her most often in head to toe pink sporting a boa and tiara. She loves to cuddle and would be content on your lap watching tv all day
Chloe is definitely my baker. She knew what went in pumpkin pie from the time she was 3 and she is most content on a stool, stirring right along with me.
Our Mr. Man. I’m not quite sure what our world was like without him. He is funny and sweet. He periodically stops whatever he is doing to come give you a big hug. By far our biggest sweet tooth. He knows that butter in a bowl frequently mean cupcakes to which he’ll start prancing around the kitchen happily proclaiming; “cuhcakes! cuhcakes!”! If Brooke is managing, and Chloe is baking then Gabe will be eating
Not pictured is my handsome hubby who prefers to stay incognito but is the best man a woman could ask for
Oh and that 4-legged beast pictured with Brooke? That’s our kitchen wolf, a caucasian ovcharka who likes to herd us in the yard and sleep at your feet waiting for scraps.
Thank you so much for visiting. I hope you stop by often, I love to read all your lovely comments
If you ever have any questions about a recipe or if something didn’t quite come out right when you made something from here, or you’d like to see a new recipe then email me! Bon Appetit!

That movie is one of my favorites!! “Look at me…I’m growing in front of you!!”
I have that movie on my netflix queue to watch! Not I’m even more anxious to get to it!

Love your blog. I cannot skip a post–you never cease to amaze me!
